    The development of cell cycle arrest biomarkers in acute kidney injury

    Acute kidney injury( AKI) is common in critically ill patients associated with increased morbidity and mortality without effective treatment. The mechanism of AKI is still largely unknown. Prediction of AKI in the early phase is difficult. Serum creatinine, the most widely used marker of renal function, has been reported neither sensitive nor sepcific. Recently, investigations have shown that cell cycle arrest may play an important role in the development of AKI and biomarkers of cell cycle arrest TIMP-2 and IGFBP-7 may accurately predict early AKI.
