    On free copper particles in ancient Chinese bronze

    Some brocken pieces of ting R18515 from Huishien HLM 80 tomb(C..500 B.C.)have been examined in their microstructures,and free copper particles were founded.The observation revealed that the copper particles were products in the course of corrosion,and in the meantime a so called de-alloy effect happen ed.The tin in the tin-rich(alpha + delta)phase is eazier to be attacked by O_2 or OH and to form tin chemicals,and pure copper deposited.The size,shape and structure of the particles appears in the samples of this degree of corosion verified at lest that free copper particles are transient corosion products.
